Introduction

We chose the phrase "Happy Bitter Anniversary" for our project because most of us have no firsthand knowledge of what it's like to be a migrant worker in a foreign land. This calendar is based on a genuine narrative that we investigated and spoke with, yet it mostly illustrates the lifestyle of the migrant worker in Taiwan through the eyes of a fictional character. Siriprapha Phornme, usually known as Siri, is the protagonist's name. Since she needs money to support her family back in Thailand, the 24-year-old works as an elderly caregiver in Taiwan. The 12 months on the calendar stand for the twelve main issues that migrant workers had while they were employed in an entirely different society.
